چکیده
Nowadays, changes in precipitation patterns together with the increasing water demand impose a sustainable management where budget between availability and is positively closed. A parsimonious hydrogeological modelling approach coupled soil balance developed applied order to quantify hydrological dynamics semi-arid region of Mediterranean basin. In particular, present work focuses on catchment areas Siedi, Foggia di Rau, Pigonati, Palmarini channels located Brindisi Plain, Southern Italy. last decades, Plain anthropization processes as well industrial agricultural development have generated an intensive exploitation both shallow deep groundwater resources their qualitative deterioration. dry hydrologic year (2019–2020) caused recharge deficit, resulting lowering level aquifer compared expected seasonal value. The results evidence sensitive natural system, variability rainfall regime combined withdrawal leads system that very vulnerable climate change impacts, such presence erratic affecting recharge. This study represents first couple moisture model flow assess impact for aquifer. integrated can be other sites similar features important tool evaluate effectiveness cost-effective actions respect land-use practices socio-economic aspects.

Intrinsic Vulnerability Assessment of a Confined Carbonatic Aquifer: the Brindisi Plain Case (Southern Italy)
Apulia, in the absence of surface water, is one of the Italian regions which satisfy their water requirements by drawing large quantities (over 40%) of its water from underground resources. The large amounts drawn from these resources in the last few years due to increasing human activity on the territory has determined a general and inevitable reduction of the quality of the underground water ...

This study represents the first investigation of microbiological groundwater pollution as a function of aquifer type and season for the Apulia region of southern Italy. Two hundred and seven wells were randomly selected from those monitored by the Regional Agency for Environmental Protection for emergency use. Both compulsory (Escherichia coli, Total Coliform, and Enterococci) and optional (Pse...

متن کاملAnalysis of damaging hydrogeological events: the case of the Calabria Region (Southern Italy).
A period of bad weather conditions due to prolonged intense rainfall and strong winds can trigger landslides, floods, secondary floods (accumulation of rain on surfaces with low permeability), and sea storms, causing damage to humans and infrastructure. As a whole, these periods of bad weather and triggered phenomena can be defined as damaging hydrogeological events (DHEs). We define a methodol...
